About us

Hill and Hide is the work of Matthew, a leatherworker crafting by hand in his Norfolk workshop, where traditional skills and quiet attention to detail shape every piece.

Each item begins with carefully chosen leather, selected for its strength, character, and ability to age with grace. From the first cut to the final finish, every stage is completed by hand, including traditional saddle stitching, a method valued for its durability and longevity. There are no shortcuts, no mass production, and no unnecessary embellishment.

This is leatherwork rooted in heritage. Techniques passed down through generations guide the process, favouring function, restraint, and honest materials. The goal is not to follow trends, but to create pieces that will still feel relevant and reliable years from now.

What Is Important To Us

  • Craft first
Every piece is made carefully, not quickly. Quality matters more than volume.

  • Honest materials
We’re transparent about the leather we use and how it’s sourced—no shortcuts, no pretending.

  • Built to last
We design and make items to age well, be repaired, and stay useful for years.

  • Respect for the material
Leather comes from an animal, and we honour that by minimising waste and using it well.

  • Personal service
You deal directly with the maker. Real conversations, real accountability.
