The Story Behind Our Norfolk Collection

Every Hill and Hide product begins with more than a design—it begins with a place.

Norfolk has been my home for my entire life. Its coastline, countryside and Broads have shaped the way I see craftsmanship, quality and timeless design. Many of the places that inspire my work are places I have visited countless times, whether walking with my dogs along the coast, exploring quiet villages or enjoying the peaceful waterways of the Norfolk Broads.

When I created Hill and Hide, I wanted every collection to carry a small piece of Norfolk with it. Each name reflects a place that has inspired me and a landscape that deserves to be remembered.

More Than Just a Name

The names of our products are never chosen at random.

Each one represents somewhere that has played a part in my life or reflects the beauty, heritage and character of Norfolk. Just as every leather product develops its own story over time, every place has its own history and identity.

By naming each collection after a Norfolk location, I hope every product carries a connection to the county that inspired it.

The Hickling Crossbody

Named after Hickling Broad, the largest of the Norfolk Broads, the Hickling Crossbody reflects a landscape known for its reed beds, wildlife and peaceful waterways.

Designed as an everyday companion, it combines premium Lamport vegetable-tanned leather, black Sedgwick English bridle leather straps and quality hardware to create a timeless crossbody bag that develops character with every year of use.

Like the Broad itself, it was designed to be quietly beautiful rather than attention seeking.

The Ranworth Belt

The Ranworth Belt takes its name from another of Norfolk’s best-loved Broads.

Ranworth has long been associated with traditional boating, nature and craftsmanship. Those qualities mirror what we aim to achieve in every belt: simplicity, durability and timeless style.

Crafted from premium English bridle leather, the Ranworth Belt is designed to become a trusted companion for everyday wear.

The Brancaster Dog Collar

The Brancaster Dog Collar is inspired by one of Norfolk’s most famous beaches.

Brancaster is a place where countless walks have provided inspiration, whether across the sand, through the dunes or along the salt marshes.

It seemed only fitting that one of our leather dog collars should carry the name of a place so closely associated with walking dogs and enjoying the Norfolk coast.

The Cley Dog Collar

Cley-next-the-Sea is one of Norfolk’s most distinctive coastal villages.

Known for its windmill, marshes and internationally recognised bird reserve, Cley has a timeless charm that perfectly reflects the values behind Hill and Hide.

Its quiet character inspired a collar designed to be practical, elegant and built to last.

Looking Ahead

The Norfolk Collection will continue to grow as new designs are introduced.

Each future product will carry the name of a place that has inspired us, creating a collection that celebrates not only traditional leather craftsmanship but also the county we are proud to call home.

Every new design will add another chapter to the story.

Crafted in Norfolk, Inspired by Norfolk

At Hill and Hide, our products are more than leather goods.

They are a celebration of carefully chosen materials, thoughtful craftsmanship and the landscapes that have shaped our ideas from the very beginning.

Whether you’re carrying a Hickling Crossbody, wearing a Ranworth Belt or walking your dog with one of our leather collars or leads, we hope you’ll carry a small piece of Norfolk with you wherever life takes you.
