The Strength of English Bridle Leather

Strength Tested. Built to Last.

At Hill and Hide, we believe quality should be more than a promise.

To put our materials and craftsmanship to the test, we visited Certex in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, where we subjected specially prepared leather specimens to controlled tensile testing.

Using premium Sedgwick English bridle leather, our stitched leather test specimens were pulled under increasing force until failure.

The Highest Recorded Breaking Load: 421 kg.

A demonstration of the remarkable strength of traditional English bridle leather and the construction techniques behind Hill and Hide.

Made for decades, not seasons.

What was tested?

Specially prepared specimens of Sedgwick English bridle leather, folded and stitched using Hill and Hide’s construction techniques, were subjected to controlled tensile testing. The results demonstrate the strength of the tested construction rather than a certified breaking load for individual finished products.
